The Process Standard Offset (PSO), officially ISO 12647-2, is the internationally recognized standard for industrial print production. Developed by associations in the printing and media industry in collaboration with the research institutes Fogra and UGRA, PSO ensures the highest quality standards throughout the entire production chain.

The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) stands for responsible forest management in accordance with the highest ecological and social standards. As an FSC®-certified printing company, we guarantee complete traceability from the forest to the finished print product.

Recommendation for sustainable paper

We primarily recommend recycled paper with the “Blue Angel” eco-label. For particularly high-quality requirements, we offer FSC®-certified papers – with outstanding quality and whiteness combined with ecological responsibility.

Social responsibility worldwide

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Society for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) confirm: FSC® initiates democratic processes in developing countries and promotes fair working conditions.

This certificate confirms the successful testing and certification of our company in accordance with the current guidelines of Deutsche Pfandsystem GmbH. Level 2 process certification proves that our production processes meet the required quality and safety standards and are regularly checked by independent experts.

Our full-service production processes, from prepress to finishing with a high degree of refinement and processing, cover all areas of value creation at a single location. The result: avoidance of transport journeys and the associated CO₂ emissions.

Modern machine technology

Thanks to innovative printing machines with optimized energy use, we reduce CO₂ emissions by 30% compared to previous models:

✓ Intelligent use of suction and blowing air

Precise color measurement technology

Innovative color measurement systems and reliable sheet travel significantly reduce waste – less paper consumption means less CO₂, especially in the case of fresh fiber papers, which account for the largest share of CO₂ emissions in a printed product.

Alcohol-free printing – good for people and the environment

The use of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) in the dampening unit releases CO₂ during decomposition and is harmful to health. At BASTIAN, we have taken consistent action:

From an average IPA content of 10% to 0%!

After an initial phase with only 3%, we now completely avoid alcohol in our dampening solution – another building block in our eco-concept for the benefit of people and the environment.

Chemical reduction in printing plate exposure

Thanks to modern technology, we have been able to drastically reduce the chemicals used in printing plate exposure:

From 18,000 liters to 1,300 liters per year – a reduction of over 92.7%!

100% green electricity since 2017

Since the beginning of 2017, we have been sourcing 100% of the energy for our entire machine park from green electricity. In doing so, we are making a measurable contribution to an improved ecological balance – for your company too!
